Imagine this scenario.....

I walk on the lot of a car dealership to start looking for a new car.  I tell the salesman what extras I want and which ones I don't want.  I tell him I don't want the Navigation, the Satelite Radio, Tinted Windows, or the factory installed Undercarriage protection.  I buy the car I want and bring it home.  Then a month later, someone from the dealership sneaks onto my property, breaks into my garage and installs all the options I didn't want on my car.  Then when I complain, they tell me they worked out a deal with all those companies to install those items on their cars, including cars they sold months ago.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY DID TO MY INCREDIBLE.  THIS S**T SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!
I feel like a sucker.  After I spent alot of money on the phone I thought I wanted they complettely screw it up.  Aps and services that automaticly launch themselves (Skype, News, Stocks, Weather, Amazon, and City ID) kill my battery life.  At least when you buy a new computer you can delete all the stupid trial offers and the software you never wanted.  Forcing stupid Aps on you and then makeing them impossible to remove only after the customer signed a new two year contract should be against the law.  That should fall under changing the terms of a contract after its been signed.  I DIDN'T AGREE TO HAVE SKYPE ON MY PHONE!  I should be able to return the phone and back out of my contract with no penalty for this reason!

I could not agree with you more. That damn Skype will start up on it's own no matter how many times I force close on it.  I would like to find the guy that thought of this and stick it where the sun don't shine. I did not buy it when I got the phone.

My battery performed GREAT w/2.1 and ATK.  I could go two days and even use it overnight as my alarm clock!  Then with 2.2, it was like I had an iPhone.  Suddenly all the iPhone users in my company were making fun of me as they watched me seek out power outlets during the day to keep my phone working.

I've since re-installed ATK, and aggressively kill EVERYTHING but ATK, App Protection, and Battery monitor.  Now I'm back to normal battery life.  I certainly recognize the THEORY behind Google's app and memory management schemes, but in my experience, they don't work.

So I suggest you install ATK with automatic kill enabled, make sure you IGNORE a few key apps like ATK, etc. and see what happens.  Worst case your battery life continues to suck.  Best case, it improves and you can take a small amount of smug satisfaction each time you get the notification from ATK that it's killed all those useless processes that Google thinks you will want to use by never really do.
